In this term our students have been studying the Ancient History of Spain. As part of this unit, they had to investigate the Phoenician and Roman remains in Almuñécar. They used the school's laptops and followed the instructions given via Google Classroom.

For the investigation of the Phoenicians, the students researched information about the Phoenician monuments of Almuñécar using the laptops. Then, they copied and pasted the images of the monuments in a document and wrote a short text describing them. After that, they saved the document and submitted it to Classroom. 

For the investigation of the Romans,  the students were given some images of the Roman monuments of Almuñécar and they looked for the information in two different websites. They also wrote a short description of each monument behind the images and made a poster. Then, they wrote a comment in Classroom saying that they had already completed the task.

All the posters have been displayed in our corridor.

Last week we worked on St Patrick's Day, the popular Irish holiday celebrated on March 17th.

The students did several activities: 

- They watched a video to find out about the history of St Patrick and the celebration of this important day.

- They listened to a couple of songs to identify the symbols associated to this day and completed an oral activity to learn the new vocabulary.

- They played a little game to reveal their Irish leprechaun names. Then they used the laptops to look up their names on the Cambridge online dictionary. Their leprechaun names were very funny!

- They added a green hat and a red beard to a photograph of themselves in order to resemble a leprechaun. Then, they used this photograph to ask a classmate what their leprechaun name was. All their leprechaun faces were displayed on one wall of our school corridor.

- They did an online activity on Liveworksheets. They had to complete some gaps by selecting the right option from three given alternatives. After that, they listened to the text, once they had got all the answers correct.

- And lastly, they practiced how to search images on Google. Then, they copied and pasted the images on a text document. For this, they already had the sentences written down on a text document. They needed to search for the appropriate image representing each sentence and paste it below. They also had to save this document and submit it to Classroom.

Our students are learning the importance of taking care of their health. This oral activity allowed them to get familiar with the identification of healthy and unhealthy habits as well as giving advice.

Our students have been practising how to build a sentence in English. For that they have used coloured mini wordcards, which have helped them to know the order of the elements in the sentence. First, they coloured the mini wordcards using a specific colour code. After that, they cut these cards out. This activity allowed the students to practise sentence building in a fun way.

This week week we have been studying the minerals and their properties. The students have made a mineral card with specific information such as the name, colour, lustre, crystal structure, hardness and use. The, they ptacticed with Isabel and in pairs how to describe orally their mineral following a guided text. They also wrote a description of their mineral on their notebooks.

Today we went out of the classroom to the playground to observe the plants that our students see every day.

They worked in small groups. They had a worksheet with some questions that guided them at the task of plant observation.

This way they could apply what they had previously learnt in class.

What a great experience!
